The number on my shirt is coming loose

I kept it from the day they made me choose

Between another try and going home

Tonight I book the room out on my own

Count it slowly, five and six

Find the weight inside the kicks

Let the mirror have its say

I have work to do today

Take the floor, take the floor

I know what these shoes are for

One step clean, then one step more

I don't wait outside the door

Take the floor, take the floor

Hear my feet above the roar

Tape on the boards where I land that turn

Ten missed takes, ten things I learn

Phone face down, no score to chase

Got my own count, got my own pace

Left knee bends, right heel slides

Breath comes back when I stop the fight

No big speech, let the bass come in

Press that button, run it again

Take the floor, take the floor

I know what these shoes are for

One step clean, then one step more

I don't wait outside the door

Take the floor, take the floor

Hear my feet above the roar

Some nights the turn still falls apart

That doesn't take me to the start

I mark the place, I count it through

There's one more thing I know to do

Take the floor, take the floor

I know what these shoes are for

One step clean, then one step more

I don't wait outside the door

Take the floor, take the floor

Leave my doubts beside the door

Five and six, the room is mine

One more run before closing time
